I am delighted to be able to bring you at last a 2006 selection of paperweights from the new glassworks called Millefiori Factory. Their work is very similar to that of 3 Fiori – which is understandable as former partner and Glass Master Michele Citon is a founding member of the new firm. They are hoping, I am told, to even improve upon the quality of the 3 Fiori weights – and I am certainly pleased with the ones they have sent me. All weights are etched on the base with Millefiori Factory, Murano and come with a card of authenticity. In the battle against cheap Chinese paperweights being sold as Murano, there is a Trade Association of Glassmakers on Murano who have a label which is now applied to their work and which disintegrates if anyone tries to peel it off and apply it to another weight. All of the weights shown here carry that sticker - you can see one in the photo of the Iris weight. |
Bonsai This is Millefiori Factory’s version of the popular little tree series. Again - the same wonderful collection of tiny millefiori canes in the tree, but the background of these is pastel pink or pastel blue. |

I am very pleased that Millefiori factory have carried on with this range of weights. They are very pretty with neat canes which have a level profile, unlike the traditional range (see below) which have the uneven cane profile. This is a highly recommended range. |

Overlay This double overlay is an interesting new venture for this glassworks. I think they have some fine tuning to do in the central canes - they are the typical Murano millefiori - slightly uneven in profile. However, it does make an interesting addition to a Murano collection. I have priced it very competitively indeed to reflect their learning curve! |
